About

Hi! I'm Mainaji, and I'm so glad you're here, reading this;

Abba and Oba started a long time ago when a then teenage girl was asked by her Dad months to the start of school, how she would apply her faith to glorify God in her Textile design course at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York - well she had no clue but gave an answer, and it had something to do with walking in purity and not compromising! I’m not sure how she imagined textiles could possibly be compromised, but that was all she had. It would suffice! Phew.

Fast forward decades later and this homeschooling mom who’s fully contented in being exactly where she was, has a dream from God, which takes her back to a Word He had given her years prior concerning the works of her hands. Through a process that would involve being part of a discipleship training program, she would not only understand what that Word meant, but also the name, Abba and Oba would be given.

It’s an adventure we’re eager to embark on and our only desire is to be found faithful in seeking Him for the most minute of details and walking this journey in obedience to what He's called for us to be. At the end of it all, we exist because He chose the medium of fabric to convey His love to the world, and our hearts and hands say Yes!
Important things to note about me;
  • I am a believer. This means that I'm rooted in these simple yet powerful words found in John 14:6, when Jesus boldly declared "I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." This sums up my life; I follow Jesus, all the way, and I believe the truth of His Word, and I know that without Him I'm separated from the Father; and I'd rather not be. I pray that as you browse our store; either in products or my blog posts, that you'll find the peace and love of God here.
  • I am a wife to a most wonderful man of God, and mommy to 3 wonderful nations whom I have the privilege and honor by God to homeschool! I've found a fulfillment that is indescribable, and it is my prayer that more families would embark on homeschooling their children according to a biblical worldview. I call what I do discipleship more than schooling.
  • I am Nigerian, born and partly raised in Nigeria and the United States. I left Nigeria with my family at the age of 15, and have lived here ever since.
  • I love baking and cooking for my family. Every now and then I dream of having the Proverbs 31 life where I've got maidens helping me clean and prep - someday! For now, my children are in training.
  • I dream of one day being back in Nigeria to bless the northern cities with the love of God, especially the children. I'm not sure what it'll look like, but I know it has to do with discipleship, feeding good and healthy food to the less privileged and giving them great books to read and learn from.
  • I am the youngest of 5 most amazing and God sent siblings! This was going to be my number 1 point, but I felt I might be judged, so I have it down here, with the hopes that you won't realize that I cherish this position! It's literally shaped who I am. I also have a talent of decoding first borns, middle children and of course, my people, the last borns! It's a gift really.
  • My Dad went to be with the Lord in 2022, and as of now, it's not been up to a year. He was a great and loving Father- he made loving God too easy. In fact, one night, in 2015, when I realized that the love I had experienced from parents, siblings, husband etc paled in comparison to the love God had for me, it changed my life completely. I saw the Heavenly Father's love for me and I just want to love Him all my days.
